Built in 1713 as one of the first grand residences in Stellenbosch, the iconic Coopmanhuijs at 33 Church Street underwent three years’ painstaking renovation before emerging as the 5-star Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel & Spa in 2010.

Upon entering the foyer at Coopmanhuijs, one is enveloped by a gentle, unpretentious fusion of contemporary design and classic approach, grounded in a respect for the organic and the real.

The vibrant and historic university town of Stellenbosch is the perfect base from which to explore the famous Cape Winelands. In addition, the numerous shops, art galleries, museums, cake and coffee shops, restaurants and myriad other attractions of Stellenbosch are all within easy walking distance.

ACCOMMODATION
Our 16 guest rooms are air-conditioned and feature extra-length king size or twin single beds and en-suite Victorian bathrooms with underfloor heating. Six guest rooms have their own private balconies. The courtyard encloses a tranquil swimming-pool and discreet health spa.

DINING
Helena’s Restaurant is located in two adjoining dining areas within Coopmanhuijs. The first area, beneath an antique yellow-wood ceiling, is appointed with richly embossed French wallpaper. Lighted trees – intricately made of wire – adorn an entire wall. In the second dining area, hand-hewn poplar dining chairs are set beneath the glass roof of a charming conservatoire, which opens onto the enclosed courtyard and swimming pool.
